2022 Events

URISA Introduction to Equity & Social Justice – January 21, 2022 (virtual) – This workshop will serve as an introduction to recent trends and practices related to using GIS for Equity and Social Justice.

LEAP: Location, Enterprise Addressing, and Public Safety Conference – Feb 1-3, 2022 (virtual) – Hear about successes and lessons learned in integrating GIS-supported addressing into Local, State, and Federal Government operations.

ASPRS 2022 Annual Conference at Geo Week – February 6-8 2022, Denver, CO – This annual event champions the coming together of geospatial technologies and the built environment. Where professionals from a range of disciplines network and gain insight into the increasing confluence of their worlds.

GIS/Valuation Technologies ConferenceMarch 27-30, 2022, New Orleans, LA – Annual Conference for Professionals in Property Assessment, Tax Administration, Mapping and Information Technology.

Esri UC – July 11-15, 2022, San Diego, CA – This one week event is the largest geospatial conference in the world, with over 15,000 attendees every Summer. With conference fees covered by our yearly software licensing costs, this event is always a good deal we should never miss.

GIS-Pro 2022 October 3-6, 2022, Boise, ID – URISA’s 60th Anniversary Conference.

2020 Events

CalGIS 2020February 9-11, Long Beach. This event highlights user experiences with GIS across California, with strong representation from the State and Local Government Sectors. Registration includes one free half or full day workshop. This event is  is held in different parts of our state every year, this year it’s on our home turf making attendance easier than in some other years.

Esri Geodesign Summit February 24 – 27, 2020, Redlands – This annual event provides opportunities to join thought leaders, innovators, and other visionaries to see firsthand how they are leveraging geodesign and technology to confront challenges head-on and plan for our future.

FutureView 2020, EagleView’s User ConferenceMarch 9-12th, Phoenix, AZ – More details to follow.

Esri Dev Summit – March 10-13, Palm Springs – Esri holds this one-week event in Palm Springs every Spring. It’s similar to the Esri User Conference, but for developers. Every workshop is filled with useful code samples for whatever apps you and your fellow developers are working on.

Esri Public Sector CIO Summit – April 1-2, Redlands – This annual event provides opportunities for top IT executives to network and share location intelligence strategies among their peers. The event is free, space is limited, and it’s by invitation to top level managers only.

Esri International User Conference – July 13-17, San Diego – This one week event is the largest geospatial conference in the world, with over 15,000 attendees every Summer. With conference fees covered by our yearly software licensing costs, this event is always a good deal we should never miss.

FOSS4G – August 24-29, Calgary, Alberta, Canada – This event (Free and Open Source Software 4 Geospatial) displays the powerful innovations of the Open Source Geospatial Community. This international event is distinct from, and larger than, the North America regional event. The international event rotates across continents each year and returns to North America in 2020.

2019 Events

School of DataJanuary 31 and February 1, at the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) in Downtown Los Angeles – Data + Donuts LA is hosting an event that includes talks about Data Science, Python, and R, as well as talks geared for managers and data driven decision making. The event is free to attend, but space may be limited.  Apply here.

Esri Dev Summit – March 5-8, Palm Springs – Esri holds this one-week event in Palm Springs every Spring. It’s similar to the Esri User Conference, but it’s specifically customized for people who code. Absolute fluency in JavaScript, Python, and Esri’s other APIs are strong must-have knowledge areas for anyone considering attending this event. If your skills are limited to the world of point-and-click, or your coding skills are at the beginner level, attend the Esri UC.

CalGIS – April 8-10, Fresno – This event highlights user experiences with GIS across California. We find this event is useful to attend occasionally and is held in different parts of our state every year.

FOSS4G North America – April 15-18, Mission Bay San Diego – This event (Free and Open Source Software 4 Geospatial) displays the powerful innovations of the Open Source Geospatial Community. The four-day event migrates to a different part of our continent every year.

Esri International User Conference – July 8-12, San Diego – This one week event is the largest geospatial conference in the world, with over 15,000 attendees every Summer. With conference fees covered by our yearly software licensing costs, this event is always a good deal we should never miss.

Data Con LA – Possibly August, 2019 at USC? – This is the largest Data Analytics event of its kind in Southern California. Rumors indicate it will go longer than a single day in 2019. The price was free for early bird registration and $40 otherwise.
