Sheriff’s Crime Data – Demographics dB

Just wanted to let everyone know about the availability of Sheriff’s crime data on the Demographics dB in the repository.  It’s been there for a few months and has been mentioned in some of the user group meetings but wanted to mention it here as well.  The layer is called: eGIS_Demographic.OMEGA_SHERIFF_CRIMEMAPPING_180.  It’s updated daily and covers a rolling 180-day window.  Thank you to DRP and particularly LASD for making this happen.

Here’s the description of the layer in the metadata:

This dataset mirrors the data on the public CrimeMapping.com website. The data has been extracted, processed, and presented through appropriate channels from the CentralSquare Technologies (Originally Omega Group) software on the eGIS servers. The data includes crime data reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program; Homicides, Rapes, Robberies, Aggravated Assaults, Burglaries, Larcenies, Motor Vehicle Thefts, and Arsons. Non-Aggravated Assaults are also included in the dataset. The crime data is provided by LASD and is vetted through their department. This data covers crimes reported in the Sheriff’s jurisdiction only in the past 180 days – which does not include crimes reported by Police Departments within LA County (For example, Los Angeles Police Department – LAPD – crime data is not included).
