eGIS NOTICE: SQL Server Upgrade for EGISDBP2 (Sunday, July 17, 2022)

As part of eGIS’s continuing commitment to provide enhanced functionality and security we will be upgrading the SQL Server instances located on EGISDBP2 (10.48.150.246) from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2017.  Although a newer version of SQL Server 2019 is available, 2017 was chosen to maintain compatibility with current infrastructure and legacy applications.  This upgrade is required because the current version will reach its end of life support on July 12.  The change window for this upgrade will occur Sunday, 7/17/2022 6AM –  6PM and is necessary since it is a critical and major upgrade.  For the first few hours, databases will be offline, during which the database and EGIS teams will backup and restore the databases to the new server.  Although we expect the migration to complete before 6PM, we recommend that users not connect and write to the databases before you are notified by EGIS that the migration was successful to avoid any data corruption.

Prior to 6AM on Sunday, July 17, please disconnect active connections to EGISDBP2 (e.g. ArcGIS Desktop); otherwise the database team will close all active connections prior to the migration.

The EGIS team will send out notifications regarding any setbacks and upon successful completion/validation.  Please stay tuned for further updates.

Change Request Number # 55934
